The PastureMap iOS and Android apps work offline in the field even when you have no network connection. Once you regain network connectivity and open PastureMap again, the mobile app will sync all its data to the cloud so everyone else on your team can see the new records. Normally this works seamlessly and we will automatically resolve any conflicts that are encountered and update your records to the most current version.
In rare cases, however, if multiple conflicting records are entered by multiple team members simultaneously while offline, the app may fail to sync properly. If this happens, you may be unable to create new records from your mobile app and you may not see the most current records in your app.
On Android, the sync indicator will have an exclamation mark to indicate that syncing failed. On iOS, you will see an alert saying that sync failed or there will be a red number on the syncing icon to indicate that there are still records that could not be synced.
To fix an app that fails to sync, you can log out of the app and log back in. This will cause any unsynced records on your phone to be lost. Before you do this, write down any unsaved changes so you can re-enter them later. Make sure you have a good Internet connection on your device to sync your data.
How to log out on iOS
- Go to the Settings tab
- Scroll down until you see the Log out button.
- Tap the Log out button.
- Enter your email and password to Log In again. After logging in, your records will be synced again from the cloud and you will be able to recreate the records that failed to sync earlier.
How to log out on Android
- Go to the Settings tab with the rancher icon.
- Scroll down to find the Log out button.
- Tap the Log out button.
- Enter your email and password and tap Log in to log in again. The app will sync your data from the cloud and you will be able to recreate the records that failed to sync earlier.
After following these steps, if you are still having trouble syncing, try uninstalling the PastureMap app from your device and re-installing it from the App Store or the Play Store. This will also ensure you have the latest version of PastureMap on your device.
