The Pastures page displays pasture specific information related to forage and grazing events, and the number of pastures, subdivisions and total acreage mapped.
Buttons:
When viewing the Pastures page, there are six buttons located across the top of the page:
- Order Pastures By
- Ascending / Descending
- Draw Pasture
- Upload KML
- Export Grazing Report
- Stocking Calculator
Order Pastures By & Ascending / Descending
The order pastures by button allows you to organize the pastures list by date of last activity, name, area, or date created and in either ascending or descending order.
Draw Pasture
When selected, the draw pasture button will redirect you to the map page to allow a new pasture to be drawn on the map.
Upload KML
When selected, the upload KML button will open your file finder and allow you to upload a KML file. For more information regarding KML files, please view this article.
Export Grazing Report
The export grazing report button will export your PastureMap grazing data and pasture data into an easy to read spreadsheet format. To view the grazing data as a chart within PastureMap, please view the Grazing Chart page.
Stocking Calculator
When selected, the stocking calculator button will open the stocking calculator. To use the stocking calculator, the pasture’s available dry matter must be recorded: (Pastures > Select Pasture > Pasture Inventory > Enter Available Dry Matter > Save).
How to use the PastureMap Calculator: Select the pasture > Enter the planned residual dry matter > select the herd > enter the number of days the herd will be grazing for > PastureMap will calculate the Planned Stock Density
The planned residual dry matter refers to the amount of dry matter you want to leave in the pasture. If you traditionally say I want to take 30% off the top, you would enter 70% planned residual dry matter.
Areas marked in yellow are the fields you will enter the required information, and areas marked in green are the outputs from PastureMap.
