Your pasture inventory is the available dry matter PastureMap keeps on record for a pasture, along with the related grazing values. It is the basis for the forage and grazing-days figures you see across the app. PastureMap no longer has a separate inventory button. Instead, these values live on your grazing events: you can set them while you move a herd, or add them to a past event afterward.
When to inventory
Update your inventory at the start of each grazing season at a minimum. For the most accurate data, update it every time you graze a pasture, recording the available dry matter as the herd moves in or out.
Recording inventory while moving a herd
The simplest way to keep inventory current is to enter it as you move a herd. The move form includes an Available Dry Matter field, so the value is captured at the moment of the move. For the full move steps, see Moving Herds on the Map.
Adding inventory to a past event
You can also add or update these values on an event you have already logged, such as a herd move or a Hayed event.
- On the pasture detail page, scroll to Events and select the event you want to update. The event expands to show its details.

- Click the pencil icon to the right of the event to edit it.
- Enter your values. Available Dry Matter appears on both herd-move and Hayed events. Depending on the event, you will also see Planned Grazing Time on a move or Available Grazing Days on a Hayed event, along with Notes. You can attach a photo if you like.
