The Data Layers panel customizes what information is displayed on your map. You can choose which infrastructure markers are visible, how pastures are color-coded, and how opaque they appear over the satellite imagery.
Opening the Data Layers Panel
- Click the Data Layers icon (layers icon) in the map navigation bar.
Show Infrastructure
Use the toggles under Show Infrastructure column to control which infrastructure markers appear on the map. Turning a category off hides those markers from view without deleting them.
- Gates - show or hide gate markers.
- Water Troughs - show or hide water trough markers.
- Haybales - show or hide haybale markers.
- Rain Gauge - show or hide rain gauge markers.
- Other - show or hide any infrastructure items that don't fit the other categories.
Show Monitoring
Use the toggles under Show Monitoring column to control which monitoring markers appear on the map.
- Photos - photo markers pinned to locations on your ranch.
- Measurement Points - rainfall and monitoring measurement point markers.
Select Data Layer
The Select Data Layer radio buttons control what data is color-coded onto the pasture polygons. Options are:
- Rest Days (default) — Colors pastures by how many days they have been resting since the last herd move.
- Animal Days / Acre — Colors pastures by their animal days per acre value.
- Grazing Days — Colors pastures by the number of days they have been actively grazed.
- Forage — Colors pastures by their forage estimate.
- Pasture Names — Displays pasture name labels on the polygons. No color coding is applied.
- None — Removes all color coding from pasture polygons. The polygon outlines still appear, but no fill color or labels are applied
Color Pastures by Selected Data Layer
Rest Days, Animal Days / Acre, Grazing Days, and Forage each have a customizable color band labeled LOW, MID, and HIGH. The control appears below the data layer list, labeled to match the selected layer (for example, Color Pastures by Rest Days).
Adjust the threshold values to match your target ranges - for Rest Days, that might be your target rotation length. To customize:
- Click the threshold field below MID and enter the value where you want the green (MID) band to begin.
- Click the threshold field below HIGH and enter the value where you want the yellow (HIGH) band to begin.
- Click any of the color bars (LOW, MID, or HIGH) to open the color picker and choose a different color for that band.
- Changes apply to the map immediately.
Each layer remembers its own threshold and color settings.

How the Color Coding Works When the Data Layers panel is set to Rest Days (the default), each pasture polygon on the map is filled with a color that reflects its current rest day count. The colors move from red to green to yellow as rest days increase:
The exact day thresholds for each color band are configurable. By default, red covers 0 to 30 days, green covers 30 to 60 days, and yellow covers 60 days and above. |
Pasture Opacity
The Pasture Opacity slider at the bottom of the panel controls how transparent the pasture color fill appears over the satellite imagery. Slide it left for more transparency (showing more of the underlying satellite image) or right for a more solid color fill.
This setting applies to whichever data layer is currently selected.
