How to Edit or Delete a Pasture

You can rename a pasture, adjust its grazable area percentage, or delete it entirely from the pasture detail panel.

Edit a Pasture

From the Map

  1. Click the pasture polygon on the map. The pasture detail panel opens in the left sidebar.Click any pasture on the map to open the detail panel
  2. Click the pencil icon next to the pasture name. The panel switches to edit mode - the name becomes an editable field and the grazable area becomes an editable percentage.Edit mode - update the name or grazable area, then click the blue save icon
  3. Update the pasture name and/or grazable area percentage as needed.
  4. Click the blue Save icon to save your changes. Click the red X to cancel without saving.

From the Pastures Page

  1. Click Pastures in the top navigation.
  2. Click on the pasture you want to edit from the list.The Pastures page lists all pastures with key stats and last activity
  3. Click Edit in the top right corner of the pasture detail page. The name and grazable area fields become editable.Edit mode on the Pastures page - update name or grazable area then click Save
  4. Update the pasture name and/or grazable area percentage as needed.
  5. Click Save to save your changes. Click Cancel to exit without saving.
Grazable area: This percentage tells PastureMap what portion of the total acreage is actually available for grazing. It defaults to 100% and affects forage calculations.

 

Delete a Pasture

From the Map

  1. Click the pasture polygon on the map to open the detail panel.
  2. Click the pencil icon to enter edit mode.
  3. Click the red trash icon. A confirmation dialog will appear.Confirm the deletion - this action cannot be undone
  4. Click Yes to permanently delete the pasture.

From the Pastures Page

  1. Click Pastures in the top navigation and select the pasture.
  2. Click Delete in the top right corner. A confirmation dialog will appear.Confirm the deletion - this action cannot be undone
  3. Click Yes to permanently delete the pasture.
Deleting a pasture permanently removes it and any grazing history recorded in it. This cannot be undone. If a herd was assigned to that pasture, the herd icon will be removed from the map. The herd still exists under the Herds tab and can be moved into a new pasture from there using the Move Into Pasture button.

 

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot find the pencil icon on the map: Make sure you have clicked a pasture polygon on the map first to open the detail panel. The pencil icon appears next to the pasture name at the top of the panel.
  • The pasture name is not updating on the map after saving: Refresh the page if the label does not update immediately.
