Infrastructure markers let you pin gates, water troughs, hay bales, rain gauges, and other features to specific locations on your map. This article walks through adding, editing, moving, and deleting infrastructure markers.
Add an Infrastructure Marker
- Click the Add Items icon (plus-square) in the map navigation bar.
- Click Add Infrastructure. The Add Infrastructure panel opens.
- Click the Select type dropdown and choose the type of infrastructure you want to place. Options are: Gate, Bale, Rain Gauge, Water Trough, and Other.
- Click Place on a Map. The map enters placement mode.
- Click the location on the map where you want to place the marker. The detail form opens.
- Fill out the form:
- Name (required) - enter a name for this marker.
- Installation Date (optional) - click the calendar icon to select the date the infrastructure was installed.
- Photo (optional) - drop an image into the photo area or click Browse to upload one.
- Notes (optional) - add any additional context.
- Click SAVE to add the marker to your map. To return to the type selection without saving, click BACK.
Move Existing Infrastructure
If a marker is in the wrong spot, you can reposition it without deleting and re-adding it. There are two ways to do this.
From the Item Summary panel
- Click the infrastructure marker on the map. The Item Summary panel opens.
- Click the Move button at the bottom of the panel.
- Drag the marker to its correct location on the map.
- Save the new position.
From the Add Items panel
As an alternative path:
- Click the Add Items icon in the map navigation bar.
- Click Move Infrastructure.
- Click the marker you want to move, then drag it to its correct location on the map.
- Save the new position.
Edit Existing Infrastructure
You can update an infrastructure marker's name, installation date, photo, or notes at any time. The infrastructure type cannot be changed after placement - if you placed the wrong type, you'll need to delete the marker and re-add it.
- Click the infrastructure marker on the map. The Item Summary panel opens.
- Click the pencil icon at the top of the panel to enter edit mode.
- Update any of the fields: name, photo, install date, or notes.
- Click the save icon (blue) to save your changes, or the cancel icon (red X) to discard them.
Delete an Infrastructure Marker
- Click the infrastructure marker on the map. The Item Summary panel opens.
- Click the red trash icon at the top of the panel.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted. The marker is removed from your map.
Showing and Hiding Infrastructure on the Map
Infrastructure markers are visible by default. To hide specific types from the map without deleting them, open the Data Layers panel and uncheck the types you want to hide under Show Infrastructure. See Customizing Map Display Options for details.
Troubleshooting
- I cannot find the infrastructure marker I just placed: Check that the infrastructure type is toggled on in the Data Layers panel. Also confirm the map is zoomed to the area where you placed it.
- I selected the wrong infrastructure type: The type cannot be changed after placement. Click the icon and click the red trash icon to delete, then re-add it with the correct type.
- My changes did not save. In edit mode, changes only save when you click the blue save icon. Clicking the red cancel icon discards any unsaved changes.
