Notes record a dated comment on the animals you select, such as a treatment, an observation, or a test. The note attaches to each selected animal and appears in the herd’s activity log and in each animal’s history.
Adding a note
- Open the herd from Herds on the Live Animals tab.
- Select the animals you want to note using the checkboxes in the animal list.
- Click Add Notes.
| Note: If you click Add Notes before selecting any animals, PastureMap shows “Before proceeding, select animals that you want to modify.” Click Dismiss, select your animals, then click Add Notes again. |
- In the Add Note For [N] Animals dialog, set the Record Date and time.
- Type your note in the Note field.
| Note: The note text is optional, so you can save a dated entry without typing anything. |
- (Optional) Click View selected animals to confirm the list.
- Click Add.
The note is saved on each selected animal.
Where your notes appear
After you add a note, it shows in two places.
- In the herd’s activity log, as “Note on [N] head: [your text]” with the date. A note does not appear as a column in the Live Animals table.
- In each animal’s history, as a dated Note: line. On the Live Animals tab, open an animal’s history from the history icon on its row to see it.
Editing or deleting a note
You edit or delete a note from the herd’s activity log. Find the Note on [N] head entry and expand it to reveal Details, Edit, and Delete.

Click Delete on the expanded entry to remove the note.
Editing a note
- Click Edit on the expanded entry.
- In the editor, change the note for an animal in its Notes cell. To set the same note on every animal in the entry, expand Bulk edit, type the note, and click Apply To All.
- Click Save.
