PastureMap records a weight for the animals you select, whether that is one animal, several, or the whole herd. You can weigh animals in the app, or import weights from a spreadsheet.
Weighing animals
- From the Herds page, select the herd.
- In the Live Animals list, check the animals you want to weigh. To weigh the whole herd, use the checkbox at the top of the list and choose Select All.
- Select the Weigh button. The Weigh window opens, titled for the number of animals you selected (for example, Weigh 3 Animals).
- Set the Record Date, enter the Weight, and add an optional Note.
- Optional: select View selected animals to confirm which animals are in the batch.
- Select Apply. The weight is recorded for every selected animal, a Weighed entry appears in the herd's history, and the Last Weight and Current Est Weight update in the list.
| Note: The weight you enter is applied to every selected animal. To record a different weight for each animal, use the spreadsheet import below. |
Weighing animals from a spreadsheet
If you track weights in a spreadsheet, you can import them. This is the way to record a different weight for each animal, since the file matches a weight to each Animal ID.
- Without selecting any animals, select the Weigh button. PastureMap prompts you to select animals; select Add Weight From XLS File.
- In the Upload weight records using our template window, under Step One, select Download.
- Open the template in Excel. Fill in Animal ID, Weight, and Date for each animal. The Animal ID must match the ID shown in the herd's animal list.
- Under Step Two, drag your completed file into the upload area, or select Browse to choose it from your computer.
- Select Next to import the weights.
