PastureMap lets you move animals from one herd to another, for example to split heifers off into their own herd or to combine groups. This article covers reassigning animals between herds. To move a whole herd to a different pasture on the map, see Moving Herds on the Map.
Moving animals
- From the Herds page, select the herd the animals are currently in.
- In the Live Animals list, check the animals you want to move.
- Select the Move Animals button. The Move window opens, titled for the number of animals you selected (for example, Move 2 Animals).
- Set the Record Date if it is not today.
- In Target herd, choose the herd to move the animals into. Pick an existing herd, or select Create New Herd to move them into a new one.
| Note: You can only move animals into another live herd. Retired herds are not available as a target. |
- Optional: select View selected animals to confirm which animals are in the move.
- Select Move. The animals leave this herd and join the target herd, and the Live Animals count here goes down.
After moving 2 animals to the heifers herd, the Cows herd drops from 40 to 38 live animals.
